As a result of the virtual trips, an online museum will be created as a final product.Evliya Çelebi is one of the most outstanding figures in the Ottoman Empire of the 17 th century. We will make use of the experiences of our colleague about her travels stated in the book. In this project, the book called ‘‘ Evliya Çelebi’nin İzinde, Milyaçka’dan Meriç’e’’ written by one of the teachers who will work in the poject will guide us beside Seyahatname. According to the characteristics of the cities and what is explained in the book, various competitions and activities will be organized and communication will be provided among the students. Our students will reach past times via the bridge of Seyahatname, and they will shed light on the customs, cultures and history of the places that are perhaps unknown or forgotten by the people of the visited places. This project will lead the students to improve these skills stated at school curriculums. In the subject of English, there is a unit about the world heritage aiming at attracting students’ attention to cultural heritage and teach them the words about historical sites and monuments. Here, they are supposed to know about Evliya Çelebi. In the subject of Geography, students are to learn about the people who contributed to the birth of Geography. In the subject of Literature, students are to read a text from the travels of Evliya Çelebi to define the relationship between the birth of travel writing genre and its era. For instance, students are introduced to Evliya Çelebi in the annual plan of History subject to define the features of the era. The emergence of this project is the problem of young people’s not being aware of the common tangible or intangible cultural heritage.In this respect, the theme of the project is related to the school curriculum in terms of some school subjects.

The architecture, the food, the clothes, the people, the music, the customs, the traditions and the beliefs of that period are of our project’s main concern.

In addition, we are going to visit some cities which he travelled in a virtual environment and we will make a comparison between then and now as if we were riding his horse. In this project, we are going to look through the social, cultural and historical information that Evliya Çelebi gained and displayed during his horseback journeys hundreds of years ago in the light of present conditions and observe the cultural items surviving today. He included the most detailed information about the places he visited with an approach that could be regarded as objective according to that era without making any racial discrimination. As a matter of fact, the great explorer, who mastered all these issues, explained different civilizations, lives and geographies to the finest details thanks to his keen observation skills. Scientists who studied the Seyahatname regarded Evliya Çelebi as a historian, a writer, a linguist, a poet, a gourmet, a geographer, a musician, an art historian, a culture researcher. Our project aims at following the route of Evliya Çelebi an explorer who travelled through the territory of Ottoman including some parts of Europe for fifty years on his horse and wrote a book called Seyahatname about these journeys.
